TEXAS, UNDER THE ACT OF AUGUST 2•. 1912 . The benefits of eel ucation and of aaeful knowledge, aenerally diffused throuah a community, are eHential to the preservation of a free sovern· ment. Sam Houston Cultivated mind is the auardian aenius of democracy. . • • It is the only dictator that fret"men acknowl· ed2e and the only security that freemen desire. Mirabeau B. Lamar EXPLANATION The University bulletins are so numbered that the first two digits of the number show the year of issue, the last two the position in the yearly series. (For example, No. 1801 is the first bulletin of the year 1918.) These comprise the official publications of the University, publications on humanistic and scientific subjects, bulletins prepared by the Bureau of Extension, and by the Bureau of Economic Geology and Technology, and other bulletins of general educational interest. With the exception of special numbers, any bulletin will be sent to a citizen of Texas free on request. A nominal charge is made for all bulleth1s sent out of the State except catalogues, annoucements, etc., unless sent to an institution on the exchange list of the University of Texas. Money for these bulletins must be sent with the order, as it has been found impracticable to send bulletins on account. A number omitted from the consecutive ol'der indicates that such number was not used. The following serial numbers have not been used: In the 1918 series: 1866, 1867' 1868. In the 1919 series: 1901 1912 1919 1933 1939 1946 1950 1955 1959 1967 1906 1916 1920 1935 1940 1947 1952 1956 1960 1969 1908 1917 1921 1937 1941 1948 1953 1957 1965 1911 1918 1929 1938 1942 1949 1954 1958 1966 In the 1920 series: 2001 2011 2019 2023 2038 2042 2048 2855 2059 2068 2005 2012 2020 2031 2039 2045 2050 2056 2062 2069 2006 2013 2021 2032 2040 2046 2053 2057 2066 2071 2008 2016 2022 2033 2041 2047 2054 2058 2067 In the 1921 series: 2101 2106 2113 2121 2141 2149 2156 2162 2170 2102 2108 2116 2122 2142 2150 2157 2166 2171 2103 2110 2117 2138 2143 2152 2158 2167 2172 2104 2111 2119 2139 2145 2153 2159 2168 2105 2112 2120 2140 2148 2154 2160 2169 All communications about University publications should be addressed to University Publications, University of Texas, Austin.
