I got on the horse (inaudible). (inaudible) and picked up the cows. I'd bring in the milk, and down in our pasture was a spring with a little water hole. It always had water in it. That's where the cows was. And when I got down there where the cows was, I saw something. There was a whole pretty good sized frog sitting there in the edge of that water. And one snake had swallowed one hind leg and another snake had swallowed the other. (inaudible) And I've always wondered what happened to that frog. (laughter) ♪ (folksy music plays) ♪ ♪ (harmonica) ♪ ♪ (grating strings) ♪ ♪ (gaining energy-- strings, harmonica, accordion, dobro) ♪ ♪ (folksy music continues) ♪ >> Her sister (inaudible) kept saying there's a land for the (inaudible) and wild cattle as you can get, and she neglected to tell her there was no law. So there were a lot of lawless people there, so they bought a place, half in Hamilton County and half in Coryell County, on the Cow House creek. But she said that coming down on that wagon train was the best time of her life. She said I walked nearly all the way to Texas, but on the trip, they had to spend the night in this long trip (inaudible)-- and some men with packages over there faces, rode up one night, they had guns, and they said "We want (inaudible) we happen to know he's in that wagon." And granny said, "Oh no, I sent my sons to Hill County. They're not with us." "We know good and blankety blank well he is in that cart." Well she said that about that time the tarp was flopped back above my head, and the shotgun poked out and Rachel said, "I know every one of you, and if anything "ever happens to Bester Howard, I will come back, "fire your houses, and shoot everyone that comes out. Men, women, and children, now get." (audience laughter) She was about five feet tall, and a very small person, but she was tough.
