The investigations, initiated by oil company security officers and later Conducted by personnel from the Federal Bureau of Investiga­ tion and the State Department of Public Safety, have covered all persons who came into contact with the surveys. The alleged leaks occured more than a ye a r ago. Bids Based on Maps The maps are made by oil com­ panies from geophysical surveys on U niversity land for possible bid­ ding at lease sales. The companies are interested in locating oil and gas deposits on the U n ive rsity’s unleased land. Through investigation, including voluntary lie detector tests, have failed to uncover suspects, M r. S fe u^rt said. The possibility exists, officials said, that the surveys were stolen from th* U niversity by outside peo­ ple. The F R I has been co-operating in the investigation to determine the possibility of violations of federal statutes.
