But these t h i n g s — t h e s e achieve ments, and friendships, and experiences— are too valu able to be forgotten, to be lost f o r e v e r . T h e y must endure; they m ust grow increasingly im portant to us as the years go by. Take it from the o l d - t i m e r s , the students of the days that used to be— the memories of the University life are things of great value, to be cared for and cherished and preserved forever. And that is the fine function and purpose of the Cactus, the permanent yearbook of T h e University of Texas— a volume of more than 500 pages, produced annually at a cost of $2 5,000— to preserve in w o r d and p i c t u r e the story of the year at " T e x a s ” and the records oi those who made that story possible. Trem endously useful and e n trancingly interesting now, it grows in value as the years go by and comes to be one of the most cherished posses sions of the college man and woman. The Cactus is proud of the d u t y which it is privileged to perform; it thrills to the t.'sk of preserving for all time to come the c u rre n t events of this great and in creasingly great campus. It wants every student and faculty member to have the benefit of this labor and of this effort, and that is w hy t h e s t a f f respectfully suggests that everyone who desires a cop)’ of this sig nificant souvenir of the University take steps at this time to reserve their book. I he size and production cost of the book obviously p r o h i b i t s the ordering of copies that arc not reserved before the closing date- March 12. sp PACE SIX Kiwanians Hear Professor Ayer Keep Your Eyes on Texas Subject of Speech in “ Consider men and women and who are Used to bn? lupine who are well-rounded civie pride when you fill the vacancies1 in your school system, * advised Dr. F, C, Ayer, profe«-or o f <-du the rational adm ini tratmn in the U niversity, in an address to San A ntonio Kiwanians at the Gunter Hotel, Friday noon. teacher!, The school, he suggf ted, is th< at -cr •«*? last plat v where w ( -ho lid tempt to eeoiminize without ious consideration, abd the est way to aer omplish e«< mony i to weed out the weak supervisors, and prim ipa; slitu tin g m o te < t ftr-i< nt o n e the l e s e tope “ Keep Your Eye- on and told o f his leaving tin- pJniversit) of Washington five years ago to com e to The U niversity of Texa b ecau se he -aw in our State g n u i possibilities in art educational way.
