Tulane Sings Spirit o f ‘W e s t’ Praises Of Aggies NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 13.— New Orleans’ football fans this week were singing loud praises of Texas A. & M. and the University of Georgia, early season conquer ors of a strong Tulane Green Wave. The general tendency was not to discredit the Wave but to praise two greatly improved teams. It is the result of a growing belief than a that Tulane year ago which may be true in spite o f the adversities of the past two weeks. is stronger The fact that the Texas Aggies are generally being picked to win the Southwest Conference cham pionship by the experts in that area supports this premise. The Aggie team that beat Tulane here September 30, 13 to 6. impressed everyone as being far superior to that which had battled Tulane’s unbeaten 1931 team to a 7 to 0 decision. Right on the heels of that game, the Wave met one of the finest Southeastern Conference teams o f the year perhaps in the Georgia Bulldogs. A t is the rating the Bulldogs have right now* in New Orleans. least, that It was a smart Georgia team, one of hard running backs, a team that possessed poise when it was seemingly on the verge o f seeing an early fade and one that had the “ makings” of a big, strong line. Chapman, fullback, one of the best impressed as being l i ne plungers seen in the South in a long while. Key, Grant, Brown and other backs were hard to hold and harder to lay a hand on at all. The Aggies and Bulldogs will be watched closely from here the remainder of the season. SEVEN FROGS COACHING FORT WORTH, Oct. 13.— Seven members of the champion 1932 football machine at Texas Christian University are coaching this year. They are ( apt. Johnny the Vaught, assistant coach at North Side High School in Fort Worth; B. W. Spearman at Olney High School; Buster Brannon at Dublin High School; Madison “ Rap” Pruitt at Mangum; Hubert Dennis at Rockdale High School; Lucy Phelps at the same school; Dan Salkeld at Norman, Okla.; Paul Snow is coaching in his home town of Winnsboro. Sigma Alpha Epsilon members who are attending the Texas-Ok- lahoma game are Tom Lumpkin, Smith Braley, James Lake, .Tame* Ward, Bonner Bentley, and James Willis. l'mmd Dorm A purely western and Texas at mosphere is created for Bracken ridge Hall students in the plaques which embellish the third story of the dormitory. In harmony with the other campus buildings relief pictures o f cowboy dress, a chuck- the vvagon and utensils used on round-up, branding irons, cacti, and animals of the western range complete the picture of the daily life of the cowboy. James Miller, manager of Brack enridge Hall, said that the idea of the decorating the building w ith sug plaques was conceived and gested by Bob Wilson, a student in the University. The plaques, Miller said, are made of terra cotta and were molded in Denver. I M P O R T A N C E E M P H A S I Z E D LAWRENCE, Kan., Oct. 13.— The importance of condition of football players was demonstrated by the Kansas team at South Bend last .Saturday when the Jayhawk- ers held the Notre Dame team to a scoreless tie. Or rather, as even the South Bend papers put it, Notre Dame held Kansas to a scoreless tie. The team came back to Law its second game at rence from bruised Creighton considerably and with sore muscles. In the whole week, in preparation for the Notre Dame game, Coach Ad Lindsey put the players through light workouts, dummy scrimmage, and practice in the execution of a few plays. All his efforts were every pointed player into perfect physical condi tion. In this he was aided by Dr. F. C.
