President-elect Dwight Eisenhower’s Cabinet was com
pleted Monday with the announcement th at he has designated
COP party official Sinclair Weeks of Boston for secretary of
commerce and labor leader M artin P. Durkin of Chicago for
secretary of labor.
Durkin is an A F L union leader and a Democrat who voted
for Gov. Adlai E. Stevenson. Ile is the only member of the h e ( a 1 ^ *n
Democratic party in the Cabinet.

In Washington, he told reporters he was surprised by the
appointment but believes Eisenhower will give full considera
tion to tho problems of labor an d th a t he will help all he can
to make Eisenhower’s adm inistration a successful one.
