The Texas Pea* Association o ffers prizes aggregating $175 in am ount and the State Oratorical Association o ffers a final prize of $75. As was th e case last year, the public contest a t the University, which is scheduled to be held the night of M arch 1st will de­ termine the selection of re p re se n ta ­ tives to both of th e S ta te contests. At the same tune the E vans prize in oratory (a first prize of $50 and second prize of $25) will be aw arded. Following are the detailed rules to the prelim in ary contests a t govern the University: Not later than F ebruary 16th, each of the men s four lite ra ry societies two rep resen tativ es for shall select the State Oratorical and two for the State Peace Contest. Each society shall determine its own m ethod fo r selecting such representatives. The eight speakers in each class selected as provided in Rule I, shall engage in semi-final contests on S at- unlay.
