The overwhelming majority of those who commented on the proposal opposed Dr. W. H. R. Shaw, associate professor of chemistry, and Cameron Hightower, freshman law student, who represented the Faculty-Student Cabinet, presented the proposal as a means of recognizing scholastic accomplishment and en- couraging students to higher-qualitv work. “This would he to recognize academic achievement by excusing students from academie achievement,” said Law School professor Jerre Williams in a typical objection to the proposal. The proposal recommends that graduating seniors he exempted from final exams if they have an A average in the ♦course for which they seek Hearing Pending On Negro Trade exemption.
