Gam e time is 2 :30 at spacious B a y lo r Field. Howard Reed, the Shorthorns’ m ainstay and numbei one pitcher, suffered a minor back injury Tues day in a physical education class. The team physic tai, however, said that the big righthander may be J ready by game time. A pulled leg muscle was troub ling Kenny Moursund, the other Shorthorn pitching ace, in practice ; this week, and he is another doubt ful. E a rlie r this season the Yearling? had to erase a four-run deficit to gain a 9-6 decision after the Cubs hit Reed for four runs in the fifth Inning. Depending on Reed’s condition, Coach Trench w ill probably call on a newcomer, Junious Kyle, to face the Cubs. K y le , a tall right hander from Orange, specializes in a side-arm sinker and almost perfect control. The Cubs, owners of a 4-4 season record, were undecided on a start er with either lefty Baldy Houghton or Bob Cull]son, a righthander, _ likely to oppose the Yearlings. _ _ B t F D D ! F R EE IN S T A L L A T IO N Central Auto Parts PH. GR 2-3303 3212 L i s t Frosh Face Baylor Cubs In Waco Tilt With his two top pitchers on the injury list, Coach Ja c k Trench was looking for a dependable hurler Thursday as the undefeated Texas Yearlings travel to W aco for a return match with the stubborn B aylo r Cubs. Game time is 2:30 at spacious Baylo r Field. Howard Reed, the Shorthorns’ mainstay and number one pitcher, suffered a minor back injury Tues day in a physical education class. Tire team physician however, said that the big righthander m ay be ready by game time. A pulled leg muscle was troub ling Kenny Moursund, the other Shorthorn pitching ace, in practice this week, and he is another doubt ful. E a rlie r this season the Yearlings had to erase a four-run deficit to gain a 9-6 decision after the Cubs hit Reed for four runs in the fifth Inning. Depending on Reed’s condition, Coach Trench will probably call on a newcomer, Junious Kyle, to face the Cubs. Kyle, a tall right hander from Orange, specializes in a side-arm sinker and almost perfect control. The Cubs, owners of a 4-4 season record, were undecided on a start er with either lefty Rudy Roughton or Bob Cullison, a righthander, likely to oppose the Y'earlings. If the Cubs decide to start Rough ton, the Shorthorns will fill their line-up with righthanded hitters. That sends Bob Verplank to first base, Ted Ferguson to second. Joe B a rk e r to third base.
