LITTLEFIELD HAS TWO FAST MEN IN DASHES Aubrey Cockrell of Alvin and J e ­ rome Landa of Eagle Lake, two mem­ bers of track coach Clyde Littlefield’s cinder path squad, are very likely to set a new Southwestern Conference record in the IOO and 220-yard dashes this year, Both of these men are consistent runners and make the IOO yards in IO seconds regularly. At one time last year Landa made the 100-yard dash in 9.6 seconds, a speed considered about as fast as any runner in the Southwestern Confer­ ence has ever made it. Landa was a freshman last year, and was not eligible to participate on the Varsity is as good on the squad. Cockrell track as his competitor, and so far this year has been showing up slight­ ly better. He out ran Landa by a slight margin recently. Alton Baggett of Cameron is an­ other good dash man on Littlefield’s squad this season, and will most like­ ly complete the team of three men for the meets this year. In the display there are three silver cups, a number of silver watches, and bronze statuettes of relay runners.
