The target trail? the same cloud that all I exan aims and ambitions have trailed since the first issue went to press. The new staff hopes, just as have its predecessors, for a measure of good fortune and accomplishment a little in excess of any of its forbears. Just what portion of the projected program w ill be achieved is a matter <>f doubt. I he last ot next year will answer the question to some extent; possibly I exams ut many future years to com** will he required to gauge the paper’? success. But its immediate success w ill be plum­ bed by next year and will be measured by the coopera­ tion of the nine thousand students who build and subsist upon the University and its publications system. Cooperation will be required and tolerance. These men and women who disagree with Texan policies may build a better paper by constructive criticism and the real de­ sire to help. Those men and women who would see the Texan go forw ard to a goal which it rightly possesses w ill look for the merits of the work rather than the short­ coming?. Tho?' men and women who are proud of their U ni­ versity and its division a1 corps, v ill realize their part as a vita! meehanUm in the Texan machine, and in such recognition, will thr v. a shoulder to the w heel.
