Thanksgiving day will be a holi day, but the stud en ts will be re quired to attend classes the next morning. Moreover, there is a rule enforced by the a d m i n i s t r a tive officers which makes an a b sence on the day following a hol iday count as a double absence. There is m anifest injustice in th is m isunderstanding. The stu dents have planned a reception for Thanksgiving night. Alumni and visitors have been invited from all parts o f the State. They will likely come in large numbers to see the N otre Dame football game. Hundreds of fathers and mothers will take this occasion to pay a v isit to the U niversity. The task of entertaining th ese visitors will be no little one. Say what you will, any courtesy th at is shown the visitors will be an advertisement for tin* U niversity of Texas. Oh, y e s; it w ill be lots of fun for the students to m eet trains all day W ednesday; enter tain the visitors W ednesday night, Thursday and Thursday night; escort them to the train again Friday m orning; and in the m eantim e give up their rooms, their their beds, and bread and butter. And then, the funniest part of it all will be the privilege of attending classes bright and early Friday morn ing. is We don’t know who to blame, but it is apparent that someone is. The only salvation, as we see it, is to carry our books to the football gam e and study our lessons between halves. TEXAN QUALIFIES. Jam es A.
