The company was founded in 1963 by Batsheva de Rothschild, who persuaded Martha Graham to assume its artistic supervision and training. The premiere in 1964 turned into a major cultural event in Israel, and since then the company has achieved world-wide fame and success. Its frequent tours to Europe and the USA have won critical and public acclaim, as well as many prizes and citations for the company. Most of the world's greatest choreographers have worked with the Batsheva Dance Company, including Martha Graham, Jerome Robbins, Jose Limon, Kurt Jooss, Anna Sokolow, Robert Cohan, Talley Beatty, Glen Tetley, Norman Morrice, John Butler, Donald McKayle, Christopher Bruce and others. "Batsheva" was also the one and only company (other than her own) for which Martha Graham created a new dance work, "Dream" (1974).Several well known artists served as artistic directors of the company, among these were Jane Dudley, Norman Walker, Brian Macdonald, William Louther, Linda Hodes and Kaj Lothman, the present artistic di rector. At the same time the company encouraged Israeli choreographers, both company members and guests, such as Rena Gluck, Moshe Efrati, Rina Schenfeld, Oshra Elkayam-Ronen and Mirali Sharon. It also contributed to the propagation of works by Israeli composers. Through these works Israeli music found its way into dance companies the world over. These include compos1t1ons by Oedoen Partos, Mordecai Seter, Paul Ben Haim , Noam Sheriff and Zvi Avni. The same is true for Israeli designers Dani Karavan and David Sharir. Thus the Batsheva Dance Company made a major contribution not only to cultural life in Israel, but to Israel's reputation throughout the world. In April, 1975 the company became a publicly supported dance ensemble whose continuing activities are supported by the Israel Ministry of Education and Culture, by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and others. A stu dent of Gertrude Kraus and Martha Graham, and a graduate of Juilliard School of Music and Dance in New York. She performed with her own company in New York to excel lent reviews and also appeared on C.B.S. and N.B.C. televi sion programs. Oshra is among the founders of the Inter-Kibbutzim Dance Company to whose repertory she has contributed three of her dances. In 1970, she founded and is still directing the Central Dance Studio in the Jordan Valley. In 1972, she was the first choreographer, outside of Sara Levi-Tanai, to choreograph for the lnbal Dance Theatre. She created for lnbal "Requiem to a Warrior" and "The Sea is not Full. . .. " In 1974, she was invited to choreograph for an Italian-British television series, a film, "Moses, The Law giver". She was among the first dancers of Batsheva Dance Com pany, and among the first few Israeli choreographers en trusted to work with the company. For the Batsheva Dance Company, she has created four ballets, for all of which she has designed the set and cos tumes as well, "Adam & Eve" which was performed on the company's first tour abroad, "David & Goliath", and "Journey to Nowhere". She was commissioned in 1975 by the Israel Festival to create "Apocalypse", in celebration of 30 years since the ending of the second World War. For both "Journey to Nowhere" and "Apocalpyse", Miss Elkayam-Ronen created the musical collage. CHRISTOPHER BRUCE Christopher Bruce is considered by many to be one of the most gifted young dancer-choreographers in Britain today and, in 1974 was chosen to receive the Evening Standard's first Dance Award. Born in Leicester in 1945, he trained at the Rambert School of Ballet and joined the company in 1963. When it re-formed as a modern dance company in 1966, he quickly achieyed prominence with his interpretation of the title role in Glen Tetley's "Pierrot Lunaire" and since then has created many of the leading roles in the company's repetoire. He choreographed his first ballet in 1969 and the Rambert repetoire now includes nine of his works, the most recent being "Ancient Voices of Children" and "Black Angels," both to scores by Goerge Crumb and "Promenade" to music by Bach. In 1970 he choreographed "Wings" for the Tanz Forum in Cologne and later mounted it for Ballet Rambert and for the dance company in Basie. His "There was a Time" is also performed by the company in Munich. In 1972 he was responsible for the choreography in Frank Dunlap's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" for the Young Vic Company and, in 1974, he created his first work for the Royal Ballet, "Unfamiliar Playground." That year Ballet Rambert appointed him Associate Choreographer and, in 1975 he was invited by Dame Marie and John Chesworth, the company's Directors, to join them as Associate Director. In addition to the ballets already mentioned his works include "George Frederic," "Living Space," "for·those who die as cattle," and "Weekend." Christopher Bruce is married, has three children, and lives in Richmond, Surrey. ' ' ZOLTAN KODALY Hungarian Composer, music folklorist and musicologist. The most important influence on Kodaly's idiom was Magyar folk music. He found in folk music the source of an individual language that preserves the character of an original national style which in turn provided an inspiration for his musical invention. His music was generally of a free rhapsodic character, in which decorative patterns play an important part. Kodaly's works are a major contribution to all branches of choral art. "Music that seeks to proclaim the fullness of life demands the fullness of the human voice." Christopher Bruce has created his new work "Voices" to three sections from "Nights in the Mountains," which is written without words for women's chorus. "Mountains have voices," said the composer on one occasion, and Kodaly, who in the early 1920's was called a "mountain magician" by his pupils, not only heard those voices but was able to render that mystical, remote but alwaysclearly ringing sound into music. The infinite stillness of this music creates the impression of timelessness. -"01>J'l n,ii7p7i!l np,oi>J i:Jn>J ,"ilJ1il i'lt:l"T'l!Jmp il.Y!JtviT nnTI n"ilJ'liTil n"7:l7:lYil iTP"tn>J7 .li7ip KY>J xin ."K,,P 7tv n""P"01>Jil in!:>w 'n ilPtn ni>Jiw.i n"7K'1i":l"1.l".K iTDtv7 iip>J n">JOYil np,om:i il.Ki'IL'il-i1j?7:l j?!J"'O i'VJK "i1j?7:l "7:l'1.K7 1'1.llO 7y n.KtviJ "K1'lv 7tv ilP"0'1>Jil .n"7v.,oi>Jil inx~miT7 t:l""t:l1'1L'"P m,,'O., il::J.tv "'IL'D'\n 'lj'\0D1 'l!J1.K ilij?'l3J:l nmin miiTn "Ki'1P 7tv w1'1i"Y" . .:ntvn ii?n t:l"K7r.ir.i ilP"01>J,, .n,n'mp>J nrn:ix 7tv tl"J'ltvil il"lio7 ni.:>"J ?ip xi?>J nx ntviii cxi7>J'l t:l""n Kt:i:J'l n.oxitvn in? She was born in Brooklyn, New York and studied composition at the Eastman and Manhatten Schools of Music. In 1962 she founded the Seattle, Washington NEW DIMENSIONS IN MUSIC which she directed and conducted until coming to Israel. In 1975 she was commissioned by the Israel Festival to write a chamber work which resulted in SHIMSHON HAGIBOR for female voice and instruments, with a text by David Avidan. In the same year, her work FROGS, originally commissioned by the Northwest Chamber Players, was performed by the I PO with Adi Etzion-Zak, soprano, and Lukas Foss conducting. At present, Mrs Williams is working for the Israel Broadcasting Authority as a producer and is responsible for contemporary chamber music for the radio. "The music for FANTASIA was written at the same time that the choreography was conceived, so that I wrote the music, to the dance. The music is composed in sectional form, to fit the various sections of the dance, but the original rhythms heard in the vocal parts at the beginning of the work and the pitches, which are heard later, are developed throughout the piece. When I decided to use voices, the problem arose concerning a text. However, I did not want to use specific words, which might give an incorrect meaning to the dance, so I chose to use syllables. In several places in the dance, I tried to use specific musical effects, such as free singing, in very close intervals, to simulate Middle Eastern chanting". Joan Franks Williams RAHAMIM RON Rahamim Ron grew up and studied at Kibbutz Sha'ar Ha Golan where his talent for dance was revealed. He started to study dance with Gertrude Kraus and Judith Arnon and later modern technique with Rena Gluck. In 1964, Rahamim Ron became one of the original members of the Batsheva Dance Company. In 1967, he received a scholarship from Martha Graham in New York and was invited to join her company. At the same time he was invited to dance in the companies of Donald McKayle and Pearl Lang. Upon his return to Israel, he was accepted as a principal dancer with the Batsheva Dance Company. He has danced in most of the major works of the repertoire. Jose Limon's "Exiles", Martha Graham's "Errand into the Maze", Jerome Robbins' "Moves" and Glen Tetley's "Mythical Hunters" . In 1970, while the company was touring .the U.S.A., Rahamim Ron was chosen by Dance Maqazine as The Dancer of the Month. In 1971, he won The Gold Star Award together with Rina Schenfeld as the best duo in the International Dance Festival held in the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris, for the performance of "Transition", choreographed by Mirali Sharon. In 1973-74, Rahamim Ron was invited as a guest dancer to Switzerland and Germany where he also taught modern technique. As a choreographer he started experiments in Judith Arnon's Dance Studio, with the Habima Theatre where he choreographed for the play "On Light-Mindedness and Hypocrisy" and for Bat sheva 2. Rahamim Ron has been dancing on the professional stage in Israel for the past ·13 years. trixm,,uw l'.l"nr,ixi' ,.,'j!J'r.l-il:i 1952 11JW':l. i71J tn.Kilj?1UUT YJ,.,il?i.Ki' C"Win limU-"On., c.,-,Yl"il tl"J,n?r.:iil ri:i K'l:il nu'iU.:i UTnl'lUTr.:i xin ..vY:ir.:i7 l"n'm·il p:i o,7.,.vni iTnil J1'1in .YY:ir.m t?iti7 mmJn .,,,.,n ?w-ilUlin ,.,m., 'l!J';i "il'n"l'il il'IYK,iill 1'7tnn nx -,y., i"iUT :ipy, -j?'1t:liU 'l"ll ii'l:i.1nW' "ilW'"j?J '1',:J llJ? 9 'Otl oi7p.,Y,, W'r.lnil17ln inx l1Y:J.r.i7 il-i"Y'I .,mt .1959 mw-:i 1nxn ,C".l'lUT tl".01n ,11.0.Ki:i.,.,:l C'IJ'tUT iliU"i'.l .,r,.'.J 24-:J , 6 ll..l.il niUli? .l.lui tJ'tu7!W'r.l ,c,,n7'Yr.:i ,o,.:im.vn '7innm ,KiU"1 xim mxiiil iir.:iyi nmr.in .,,,r.:iy miwx.,n ilr.:iYn:i tJ""o? :l""" ix in:i.,w-11ny 7.:J:i .7,nnil i:i im.Yil 7w KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN Karlheinz Stockhausen was born in 1928 in Germany. He is amongst those composers who are creating a new active re· lationship between composer and performer and uses a new system of notation which allows the solo performer greater freedom. Ya'acov Sharir has created his work "The Great Variation" to Zyklus for Percussion written in 1959. Zyklus is a piece for one performer using marimba, vibraphone, quiro, assorted drums, bells, cymbals, triangles and gongs. The percussionist has a score of 16 pages and may st..-t on any page but must then play "A cycle in the given succession" ending with the first measure of the page from which he started. o.,C,w-ii"J. 7x?Y::i .rmmx1 nrn:J.K? il"r:Jij?.Kil 1.:n::i W'"ll il'ltlii?KJ. ,,i7, ir.:i? ,?io,n1 :ivmip? np?nr.:i::i .,,? i!'l0r1 ?yx tJ'l?tv1i'IJ. l'J.1i ?inn npn? ?w-inon ni::i::i i1pi ir.i7 1966 mw-::i. 11i7i!?J. ij/"1 .ilpi!?? ti1DYl1 ilJtv 'IYM 1nx?1 .Y:ltv-n::i. .tl,JW' mmw-v::iw-n:i 7mr.i ilvm:J. 1 ·or.:i p1m o.:i,::iii nii·l? nmr.i : ,.,m,,Y,n ; n,Y1'.J."P p:iil t:i?.K:lil npn?::i 2 'OD p?n 0J'l:l1i cii·~? mnr.i .'OK?j?il tl.V i::n tJ"tvin tJ'IJ1Pi nv ,:l"iliK::l tl1'1J i:l1l7 .tl.,,:V,Yj?r:J YA'ACOV SHARI R Graduated the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Crafts in Jerusalem, in the department of ceramics and sculpture. ' ;:;.) <'.< .lli!l') '):tN Today the Kibbutz Dance Company is an integral part of the cultural life of Israel and of the kibbutz movement in particular Since the early days of the State, song and dance have played a vital part in Israeli life; in the workfields, on Sabbath eve and in the celebration of festivals. It was to be expected that there would be those who would develop a particular interest and seek to expand their knowledge and involvement. Small groups of dancers drew together and sought ways of finding expression in their chosen art form . Gertrude Kraus was one of those who encouraged dance and moulded dancers in the kibbutz movement from those pioneering days and until her death, some years ago. Shulamit Ratz, of the kibbutz dance department initiated the holding of auditions. As a result a group of 20 dancers was chosen who worked together for one day a week in Haifa. Kibbutz choreographers sought a framework within which they could create and a stage on which to present their works. To this end the dancers were brought together, a f~w times a year, for an intensive period of training and rehearsing. Those who paved the way, who taught these pioneers of the Kibbutz Dance Company of today were:-Archipova Grossman, Yehudit Arno.n, Oshra Elkayam-Ronen, Gabriela Oren and Tirtza Shoham. The first programme was produced by Hermona and Micha Lin of Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek and included works by:-Heda Oren, Hermona Lin, Noa Shapira and Oshra Elkayam-Ronen. The time had come for re-evaluation and it was decided to base the kibbutz dancers on a kibbutz and to improve their work conditions. Kibbutz Ga'aton was the first kibbutz to open a dance school, due to Yehudit Arnon's dedication and drive, and so it was to Yehudit and Ga'aton that the dancers turned. In 1972 Yehudit agreed to take upon herself the artistic direction of the company and the first uncertain steps were taken on the long and arduous road towards building a professional dance company. Born in Czechoslovakia, Yehudit came to Israel 1n 1948. Her interest in dance began in her teens when the established schools of dance considered her too old for a dance career. As a member of the Young Guard Movement Yehudit was active in the organization and staging of.mass dance displays which were popular at the time. The 2nd World War curtailed her activity in dance and Yehudit sp<::nt the war years interned in the concentration camp at Aushwitz. At the war's end Yehudit moved to Budapest in Hungary where she studied under a student of Kurt Joos, before being assigned by the Young Guard Movement to chaperone a group of 100 homeless children to Israel. Via Italy Yehudit brought her charges to Israel. where she married and together with her husband joined the founder members of Kibbutz Ga·aton in the Western Galilee, where they are members to this day. In Israel, Yehudit started to lay the foundations for a dance centre that would go beyond the usual folk dancing that the kibbutzim favoured. 1958 -1972 Yehudit devoted 14 years of teaching and choreography in '.he framework of the regional school of Oshrat. A small troupe was formed on Ga'aton in 1959 which gradually developed into a regional group in 1960 and much later, national body.... the Company as we know it today. With the support of Kibbutz Ga'aton and the Regional Council of Asher, a school was built in 1965 which after many years of struggle, is today, well established. Under Yehudit's direction the school caters for some 200 dance students from the age of 10 from all the kibbutzim, moshavim and development areas in the region. In 1974 Yehudit accepted the artistic direction of the Kibbutz Dance Company. Yehudit furthered her studies in Israel under:-Gertrude Kraus, Yardena Cohen, Yehudit Binnetter. and Noa Eshkol. In 1972 Yehudit spent some months in London and Belgium at the London School of Contemporary Dance and at Mudra. She was awarded the Havezelet Dance Award in-1978 in memory of Yair Shapira, for her outstanding contribution to dance in lsra ii. In 1980, under the auspices of the America Israel Cultural Foundation, Yehudit spent several months in the United States of America. Yehudit has served on the municipal dance committees of both Haifa and Tel-Aviv. Today she is a member of the Council for the Arts of the Ministry of Education and the America Israel Cultural Foundation. Du ring 30 years of activity in dance Yehudit has moulded and guided tens of dancers teachers and choreographers. And so it was, that when the soldiers were released they had a company to which to return and an ucleus of dancers, assembled at Ga'aton under Yehudit's direction. The five dancers were:-Zichri Dagan, Mike Levine, Martha Reifeld, Noa Ronen and Sarah Blitz .. A company was born... .. this small group of dancers had sought and found a home, a framework, an artistic director. Together with Yehudit they accepted the challenge of creating a body of dancers, proficient in technique and with artistic integrity; dedicated to dance as a way of life and committed to the idea of kibbutz. Conditions were difficult. In the summer the dancers slept in air-raid shelters and in the cold winter months the heated studio provided a roof over their heads. The Kibbutz Movement allotted the company 3 days a week during which the dancers worked intensively. On Wednesdays they would return home to their respective kibbutzim, scattered throughout Israel, to fulfill their duties as kibbutz members. Yehudit spent some months in London as guest of the London Contemporary Dance Theatre and returned home convinced that the path chosen was indeed the correct one, and set about raising the technical standard of the dancers. To this end she enlisted the professional assistance of Flora Cushman and Kaj Lothman. The company as a whole and each individual dancer benefited greatly from their dedicated teaching and guidance. The company continued to grow, to gain recognition and to draw choreographers to it. Besides Yehudit herself, Oshra ElkayamRonen and Heda Oren (all members of kibbutzim) contributed to the company's repertoire. Heda received her dance education in Israel at the Kibbutz Seminary. Later, with the help of bursaries she furthered her studies in Paris, New York, London under such teachers as Murray Louis and Alwin Nickolais. The works she has created with the company are:-"Walkie Talkie", "Sum of the Parts", "Reflections on a Broken Line", "A Time for Every Purpose", "Apartment to Let", and The "Gown". Ya'acov Sharir and Gene Hill Sagan are two choreographers who have created time and again with the company, have carved for themselves a niche in the story of the company and will always be part of the "family". Their love of dance finds expression in their performance and their studio glows with the sheer joy of creative art. On stage they have found Hie synthesis between a high technical standard and a pleasing and impressive presence." In May 1978 the company made its overseas debut when it was invited for a three week season by Silvia Monfort of the NouvealJ Carre Theatre in Paris. From Paris the company continued to Rome, at the invitation of the Israel Embassy. Audiences was paved for future tours. In England the company was hosted by the London Contemporary Dance Theatre, directed by Bob Cohan and the first invitation to Holland was extended by the Nederlands Theatre Institute. This year the company returns to Paris for the third time at the invitation of Marcel Bono of the Centre Pompidou. During the company's last season in london, a group of friends, under the chairmanship of Robin Howard, founded the Friends of the Kibbutz Dance Company. The support given the company by such friends and their expressions of faith in the worth of the company have been an added incentive and inspiration in difficult times. The trustees of the friends are:Stanley Burton, Robin Howard, Jacqueline Gryn and Sally Whyte. As a result of these overseas tours contact was made with various dance personalities. In preparation of the first tour to Holland contact was made with Jiri Kylian, artistic director of the Nederlands Dans Theater. Kylian expressed interest in the idea of the kibbutz company and attended the premiere performance in Den Haag. Since that time, 3 years ago, the link between Kylian and the Kibbutz Dance Company has grown from strength to strength and today the company is privileged to include two of his works in its repertoire, "Stoolgame" and "La Cathedrale Engloutie". Jerome Robbins visited the company in its studios at Ga'aton and spoke highly of the work he saw. It was through his intervention that Anna Sokolov first worked with the company. On Yehudit's first visit to the United States she met the Japanese/American choreographer, Kei Takei, and as a result Kei worked with the company, and in a unique combining of forces, a special programme was created for the Israel Festival at Caesarea. Jiri Kylian visits the company at home on Ga'aton. : 11 ID'lJ>:li1-'7))11 J Jn:> 11)D N11'::l 'l'NIJ 1'\J')1D npn'Jn n'lJ:>I m)nnNn onm\UJ" .nmr.i m11pn n'npn'Jn nP'l'.,Nn m:>tJ m1'l'N1J1 mnn1 omm1N nN o.,JmN on'lJ o.,np1J 1:>.,) n'71:>' Pin' n:in on.Y£11i1J .m£1'71NJ ;n1\U n1'~'i1 ."i1N) n.,nr.i.,J ny£11m n::i1\J n')'.:l\J -'711 1nJ 11\UNln 1111.,0'7 npn'Jn nN~., 1978 .,NDJ m.Y£>m 18-'7 o.,1£>J n1Np 1J1) 111\JNnJ .Y.,£1111'7 nmtin ND11J 1.Y.,£>m pr.i 1nN'7 .m.Y1J\U n\U1'7'l' l\UDJ mn'J~n npn'Jn n1~p m 11.,oJ .m'>1D'7 30-n rn:mr.iJ l'lJN 1np 0'>1n1NDn O')IPOn JN 111 i1D~))J no'::n£11 .n£>Y-PN nn.,J n.,JIDJ 1:>1))) O'>'D.Y£> ,n.,'JnNJ mr.it IJ '71nr.in npn'JJ 1rnNrm onr.i))£>1 ')1)J1i1n '.:i1nr.in 111\JNn IUIN 'n11NJ .0'1£>J 11.,£>D1£l t:>IDJ 0'1nPY.l 0'))11'NJ npn'7'.:i opm 1982 'NDJ n''7:1JNJ 1nnNn ·won n.YJ J'lJP 11N1i1 1')J11 1m)) 1'lJN1J 1\UNJ 111)1JJ 0')1')1') :11n n'J1 npn'Jn 10'm ')11)1'Jn ')11rnn '7mr.in 11p \UNI 11~1) '7 11 1n1 o.,1Pon nnp'.YJ .1n)1'J1 '7mr.i'7 1£1on 0'£>1:11N.,11J oy 1mn n~11r.iJ 1p1nnn 1\UN ,0.,1\Up .o'J1yJ1 ~!NJ '71nr.in mnnJ O'\U)N1 oy \U:l£1D m1'l'N1'7 11.Y) 1)J1i1'7 npn'Jn 1Po m:>n ny:i .1\JN.,n O)N11)'J11m '7\U .,mmNn n'Jnm IN.,'7.,p .,.,.,., .n.,~n.,p npn'J '7\U 1P.Y1J ninPr:i m).,)))nn .Y.,Jn N1n n:>) IN.,'J.,p .1)J1i1J :1Nm1::i n::i1y) n11:>::in ny£11n , n.,11n., nN 111.Y n.Y£11nn 1nN'J .o'lJ1nm n.Y£11i1J o'))'l.J 'l'1J\U 1£>'7n .mpn'J oy 11.Y'l''J npn'Jn nN 1mm1 ,O.,,'l.lpn 1p1nnn imn 41'.:in'lJ '7:>:>1,nnJn nmND m)1'lJN1n 1.,m1.,~m onn'l' OPJ npj"l'Jn n.,)JnJ1 n'J11npn11 ) npn" 01n 1mN (1m.,>"J1 1'.J nnp.,n) .("mNo::in pn'l'r.i"1 "n.Y1iJ'l'i1 1nPr.i 1'l'p 1~u ::i11n1NJ n.,1111., '7\U nnrn'.Jn'lJn n.YJ ,1mnpyJ 1\UN ,npN\J np n.,)£>'11 n.,£>1:11N.,1t:>n oy \U:1£1D 1~m,npn'.:in oy n.,£>1:11N.,11:>n nn11::iy'.:i 41tmJ npn'Jm nym nr.i1Nn) mpn'Jn .,n'lJ l.,J 1nPr.i .i1.,IO'PJ 'JN'"\llJ') 'J'\)0£1J (n.,~n j)il !n::a1t=Jnn BEEP-A-CALL 1'\illl' ~,,, 1.5 i1l~j? n"='io '"l7 ':il]D1r.l11'1,',)'0 1'l0'£)Mr.l l~i' N1i11ll (POCKET PAGER) O':l·~;j?)J · .nr.ir.i'::i m:vw 24 ,i1l1tli1 nir.i'r.i oi' ?:>::l ,i1'i1n i:i oipr.i '?:>::i imN .iiwr.i.:i 1N !'l':l:l ,,,£),~ !'lN 1..'..',,i riini .:i:~m. The dancers receive tuition in classical ballet, modern dance, movement awareness and Noa Eshkol's system of movement. Today finds the company at yet another turning point. Despite the difficult physical conditions an administrative staff has taken office and deals with the day-to-day running of the company as well as long-term planning. The dancers work full-time as professional artists and the varied repertoire includes works by both Israeli and foreign choreographers. As already stated, the major administrative burden is no longer shouldered by the dancers and yet they continue to be involved both in policy making and to some extent in the execution of that policy, in the belief that total identification is essential to a healthy company. This year the company realises a dream in that it will stage a work by one of the company members and will devote time to a joint choreographic project, directed by Yehudit and with participation by the dancers. Dora Sowden wrote in The "Jerusalem Post" "One of the keenest pleasures the Kibbutz Dance Company has provided over the years is that of witnessing its progress." Felix Blaska was born in 1943 to Polish parents in Russia. He started dancing at the age of 16 at the Paris Conservatory, in France. Blaska's individuality shows in his rare musicality, his rich imagination, and in his talent to create new patterns, all that give his works a dynamic force. Blaska originally choreographed ELECTRO-BACH for Danish television. Only afterwards did this ballet enter the repetoire of the Royal Danish Ballet.
