He exchanged a few remarks with the new Ambassador of Togoland and then turned to Ambassador Bogdan. The President said, with reference to his recent talk with President Maurer, that he did not remember when he had enjoyed a visit so mucho He had an extremely favorable impression of President Maurer as a man of peace who was working, not only for the best interest of his own country, but for the good of all. He thought President Maurer set an excellent example for everyone to follow and he had been very pleased to talk with him. The President felt that he and President Maurer had under­stood each other very well and he hoped that positive results would flow from their meeting. He was confident that the Ambassador would work in this direction, and he wished him all success in his mission in this country. President Maurer had enjoyed his talk with President Johnson very much and had felt it was a most useful meeting.
