POSSIBLE QUESTIONS FOR THE PRESIDENT 1. What would we do if the Soviets really did start to put economic pressure on the Czechoslovak regime? 2. What would and should our reaction be if the Soviets and East Germans began military pressures against the Czechs such as obvious maneuvers, etc.? 3. Is our position on the question of Nazi-looted gold an open and shut question, or are there arguments for some sort of modified formula? (Ambassador Bean, for example, favors a modified formula where we would get part of what we want and reserve a final claims settlement for the time when we have an East-West Trade bill and new leverage. ) 4. What are the prospects for Congressional action on the English Language Teaching Program in Poland?
