The Air Ministry announces through the Ministry of information that it has vacancies for experienced pilots suj_table for employment on instructional and other flying of a non-operational nature. Age limits are 28 to 48. Commissions will be given immediately to suitable candi~ates who have adequate and up-to-date flying experience. In view of the urgent ne ce ss i ty f'o r ensurint, that agricultural use rs of motor spirit and heavy oil sh2ll be able to obtain sup,;;lies during the present rJeriod cf ha rvest wor.f~ anci ploughing, it has been d.ecided to pennit purchase for such purposes under a SJ:.;ecial licence is0ued by the Secretary for ~/lines under the Motor Fuel Rationing Order. Under this arrs.ne:,ement farmers will not be required to fill up special fonns f or their i rn.ruediate requirements . ·ifl1en they need to purchase petrol or Diesel fuel for the operation of a6ricultural tractors, stationary engines or other machines used in farming, the~T must satisfy the sup9lier that they are :;;erscns g,enuinely ene:,aged in agriculture and that they need the supply fo1~ agricultural v.ork a.nd no other. 'l'hey will be required to s ign a receipt for the quantity of fuel purchased on a bill head furnished by the person sellin~ the fuel. Details will be required. of thG en.tines or vehicle3 i'or which the fuel i s needed and t he name and address of the purchaser. The su pplier of the fuel will be required to produce these receipts in order to obtain replenishment of his stocks. This system also covers vans and lorries ooe rating on ac:,ricultural licences. I t does not apply t o farmers' priv&te motor cars which are dealt with under the main r ationing sc:beme or to f s rmers ' lorries operating on carriers ' licences or peni1its issued by the Hegional Transport Cormnissioners . Such vehicles are dealt with through the !~nistry of ~ransport scheme. 11'8.:nners owning vehicles of these kinds should form or j oin grourjs under the Ministry of Transport Scheme as in the case of' ctber owners of COIIh~ercial vehicles .
