| Abstract: | Using Erikson’s stages of psychosocial development and Higgins’s self discrepancy theory, this report provides a framework for understanding adolescents’ use of social networking websites and the implications of such use for their identity development and subsequent well-being. Suggestions for working with adolescents and future research are outlined. |
