| Title: | Facility Feasibility Study for Wet-Laboratory Incubator in Austin, TX |
| Author: | WalkerPeach, Cindy R. |
| Abstract: | Feasibility study for the development of a wet-laboratory incubator in Austin, Texas, conducted by the Austin Technology Incubator. Constitutes the final report for Economic Development Administration Grant F08-06-04600. Investigates the hypothesis that, due to a shortage of commercial wet laboratories in the Austin area, the creation of a wet-lab space available to startup companies would stimulate commercialization within the biosciences. Concludes that a wet-lab incubator would generate between $41 million and $109 million in additional earnings and create between 694 and 1832 jobs. Presents best practices from a study of eight successful wet-laboratory incubators. Includes detailed recommendations for marketing, siting, architecture, and facilities, as well as draft legal agreements. |
